A True Story, Serving Time with Gertrude Baniszewski  - 40 years later

Justice From Within

The Book "Justice From Within" Serving time with Gertrude Baniszewski

Paybacks are Hell

Like innocent lemmings, they followed Gertrude Baniszewski into a pitch-black abyss known as evil. They didn’t want to kill Sylvia Likens, they just wanted to torture her daily, and no one knows why.

43 years ago, one of the most perplexing crimes in our nation’s history took place. It is still being talked about today. This event begs the questions why didn’t good win over evil and why didn't anyone try to save Sylvia Likens?

Until now, we have known nothing about Gertrude and Paul Baniszewski after their sentencing in 1966.

Justice From Within is a collection of memoirs written by a former inmate of the Indiana Women’s Prison during the years of 1966-1968. It details some of the daily events that took place at the Indiana Women’s Prison, while it housed the two very infamous criminals, Gertrude and Paula Baniszewski.

The memoirs include conversations between Gertrude Baniszewski and the author. These conversations may shed further light into the 1965 torture and murder of Sylvia Marie Likens that shook the community of Indianapolis and shocked the rest of the country.

What was Gertrude like in prison, and how did the other inmates treat her? How did Gertrude describe her future to her fellow inmate, and what dark secrets did she share with her?  Why did Gertrude act clueless with authorities about the murder, and why did she publicly maintain that she barely even knew the girl? Did Gertrude know Sylvia Likens? What made Gertrude freely discuss the murder of Sylvia Likens with one inmate? Was it drugs, alcohol, or a medical condition that drove Gertrude to murder Sylvia Likens? Was Gertrude Baniszewski insane, or an average person? Did Gertrude ever admit to killing Sylvia Likens?

Now you can answer these questions for yourself.

There has never been a better circumstance as this one proves, to keep the author of a book anonymous.  This is when a professional editor and publisher is necessary.  While my client and I discussed her anonymity numerous times, it only took a few days for us to truly appreciate our decision.

I endured many sleepless nights while writing this book, it was as if Gertrude would follow me to bed every night, and visions of her, and her torturous acts haunted me.  It was one week exactly, from the time I uploaded this book until I actually slept.  No one can escape the wrath of Gertrude once they get to know her like I did; even in her grave she continues to spew hatred.

The hatred for Gertrude continues.  Is it because we do not believe that justice was served?  What punishment could have possibly been enough for the crimes against Sylvia Marie Likens?  The only justice, would have to be justice from within.

There is no technology that can make you a great writer.

Technology itself changes too quickly for any busy person to keep up with.

Software doesn’t solve your challenges… people do.

Books are written by story tellers.

Story tellers are people.

If the human factor is not lost, any book can find its audience and be enjoyed.

While I appreciate all of the comments from bloggers, again, I must remind readers that the contents of this book is copyright protected.  We look forward to reading your reviews.

At first glance, the original cover (shown left) needed to be redesigned.  Once we decided on the book’s new title, I scoured for the right photo to use on the book’s cover.  The new cover (shown right) was not only inexpensive but effective in achieving our goal.  See the Cover Design page for more information about designing your eBook’s Cover.
